We want to go higher and higher with our material, that’s why we need specialized equipment – lighter and safer. Our EASE carabiner is our answer to that: The ultralight carabiner, specially developed for hike & fly users, is a 22g lightweight product with EDELRID’s new patented turn-lock closure system – faster up at the launch site and safer in the air.

The high-strength aluminium of the EASE is manufactured in a special hot forging process in order to achieve maximum strength by having a minimum weight. Despite the minimum carabiner weight of 22g, we do not compromise on quality or safety. Like all of our flight carabiners, the EASE has been tested for cyclical loads in solo use and passes with flying colors. The compact design guarantees the smallest packing size for the most demanding tours in the air and on the ground.

NB: For Dyneema braid-style harness attachments, the addition of an anti-twist (sold here separately) on the harness side to the EASE is recommended to prevent any twisting.

Installation Recommendation

FAQ :

Should the carabiners be lubricated

Paragliding carabiners are silicone lubricated during assembly and do not require additional treatment afterward, except if polluted with sand or other foreign agents. In case of the latter, clean thoroughly with detergent, rinse, dry, and lubricated with thin oil as used for climbing gear – Do not use grease! Regularly check the carabiners proper functioning !

What is a carabiner’s lifespan?

Contrary to the carabiners used in climbing, those made for paragliding are not subjected to impact. We however strongly recommend replacing them every 5 years or sooner when visibly damaged and/or becoming difficult to close and lock in place.

What are the carabiners made of?

They are made of aluminum alloy 7075 also called Zicral, Ergal or Fortal Constructal. This alloy is a mix of aluminum, zinc, magnesium and copper. Its strength is similar to that of a few types of steel. This alloy is mainly used and often found with products targeting technical outdoors sport activities.
