Science is faced with a puzzle: The Rise 5 does not correspond at all to the common formula of the high-B glider category.
Theories are emerging to explain its remarkable performance/accessibility ratio. The scientific community is in turmoil because the great Professor Stieglair is said to have discovered and applied the winglet-to-square theorem. Or is it just pure designer magic?

Construction & Features
= Hybrid 2.5 line construction: three levels of lines in the middle, two levels at the wing tips. This saves lines and reduces air resistance, significantly increasing performance during accelerated flying.
= The combination of winglets on the stabilizers with winglets on the top of the wing offers the best performance/accessibility ratio. That’s the Winglet² Effect!
= Duralight construction: The mix of lightweight and durable material combined with a weight-saving construction. The result is a light and durable glider
= New Nose Guard Patches (a reinforcement against chafing on the nose): Added durability where it counts!
Did you know?
The Rise 5 is our first wing to which we have attached two pairs of winglets. The winglets on the wing tips help reduce air resistance, while the winglets on the top of the wing improve roll stability – especially in the spiral dive.

“The best of both worlds”: combining the performance of a high-B wing with the unexpectedly forgiving flight characteristics in this class. Thanks to this combination, the Rise 5 will make its pilots powerful, confident, and very happy. *50-65kg is the standard payload, and 65-72kg is an increased payload.
AirDesign has a small one!
At AirDesign, we work intensively on each model to maintain the behavior of the glider in flight and the entire permitted weight range outside the flight envelope. The approval of most of our umbrellas starts at 50kg because we have chosen to only describe what we have actually tested. This allows us to ensure that the wing is efficient, safe, and just as fun to use under this load as the larger sizes. This is at least as important to us as the approval itself! Our goal is for light pilots to have the same joy in flying as heavier pilots. More info
