Would you love to refine your top landing technique? This one’s for you. Bali is seriously the home of where to learn slick and precise top landing techniques. We will talk you in as many times as it takes to make you a star!

XC Skills Theory Session
Let us coach you on the theory behind advanced XC pilotage. Learn how to make the most out of the conditions, understanding thermals, weather, and advanced thermaling techniques. Held in a relaxed resort-style environment, no question will be left unanswered.

Ground Handling Coaching
You’d like to brush up on your ground handling technique? You’re not alone. In saying that, the best pilots are forever building on their ground handling skill abilities. Your ability to effectively manage the wing on the ground directly translates to a better understanding of the wing’s behaviour in the air. We will be more than happy to provide some one-on-one GH training while we are in Bali on tour.

What is the payment process?
Aside from the initial $150.00 tour reservation payment to secure your spot, there are two options for Tour Payments:
1. 100% payment up front
2. 50% deposit payment 70 days prior to tour commencement, then the remainder 40 days prior to tour commencement

What You Will Need To Bring
Your own glider, harness (preferably with rescue, if not speak to us), and a radio with SAFA channels programmed. Programming can be undertaken on your radio in Bali for a small fee. Please speak with us prior to your arrival to ensure that your specific radio can be programmed.

Getting There
We’ve always highly recommended Garuda Indonesia Airlines. They have a generous 23kg sporting goods allowance, additional to the 30kg checked baggage for Economy class fares, and 40kg for Business Class fares.

It has been the case in the past that what may appear to be a cheap ticket with Jetstar or Virgin may end up being much, much more due to extra baggage charges. If you don’t account for these online, they pump you hard at the check-in counter, and before you know it, you’re paying an absolute packet.

Important: No matter who you decide to fly with, due to the fact that flights generally arrive from midday to late afternoon you must arrive the day prior to tour commencement to ensure attendance for the first day tour briefing.

Getting Around
If you’re on our tour and have booked to stay with us at the Vouk Hotel, we get you to and from the flying site daily, but in the event that you want to go off and adventure by yourself, expect to pay up to $20AUD per day for a hire car, and scooter hire is anywhere from $9-$12AUD on average for short term hires. Staying There
All rooms are booked at the Vouk Hotel Nusa Dua for tour participants and the Rooms Division Manager will have a list of all rooms matched to tour participant names.

This means you simply turn up with identification and your room is allocated to you with a smile. Easy! This is an EXCELLENT 4.5-Star hotel with extremely friendly and accommodating staff who make your stay very comfortable.

The Vouk has generally offered far more generous than standard online rates for Cloudbase tour participants at ~AUD$95.00 p/n for the standard Superior Room, with the optional ability to upgrade to the Deluxe Room ~($110.00, and the 1 Bedroom Suite Room ~($215.00).

All rooms include breakfast and in-room WiFi, and we are proud to announce the following extras that the Vouk has offered for guests on the Cloudbase Tour:
*20% discount at the Hotel Restaurant, Bars
*Group transport to and from the Timbis flying site and return daily (for those booking via Cloudbase)

Extra night accommodation on your final day
If you’re flying home to the eastern seaboard, it is a solid recommendation that you consider booking an extra day. The reason for this is that room checkout is 12 midday and your flight will be departing anywhere between 9pm and midnight.

This gives you an opportunity to utilise your room for showers, or an afternoon rest instead of leaving your baggage at the bell desk and showering in the pool (which could be weird both for you and the kids with floaties).

Undoubtedly, the Timbis week stands out as the prime skills refresher period, while Candidasa is tailored to offer the ultimate reward following the honing of your skills in Nusa Dua.

In a commitment to boost tourism for the Candidasa and Bugbug communities, we’ve recently made a substantial investment by resurfacing and installing a 10mx10m synthetic launch environment on Sumuh Hill.

For those new to Candidasa and holding a PG3 or lower rating, participation in the Timbis week is a prerequisite. However, accomplished PG3 pilots with exceptional ground handling skills may seize single ad-hoc week opportunities once the bi-week slots are filled.

This tour caters to pilots aiming to gain expertise in mountain ridge soaring and thermal coring skills, enabling them to reach cloudbase in the tranquil coastal laminar air conditions. Precision spot landing techniques, particularly to a small beach area, receive considerable coaching emphasis during the program.

Please allow a minimum of 4-5 days training. We’d prefer that you fly for the first couple of days prior to commencement of your pax training so that you can be familiar with the nuances with top landing at the Timbis site. Minimum number of 30 flights to achieve this rating, however we anticipate that you will undertake far more than the minimum.

Pricing Structure

• Course cost is $850 and you must supply your own serviceably airworthy, certified tandem equipment. This course is completely free in the event that you purchase a new AirDesign RIDE3, Supair pilot and passenger harness set, and AirDesign Donut 220 rescue. Heavily discounted packages available, and you will also receive the GST back when departing the country with your equipment, so the incentive is there to save a lot of coin!
